200 Kitchens

Thirty years in the making. A whole lot of blood, sweat and beers; a hundred thousand kilometers walked and run in something like 200 kitchens. Eighty thousand hours worked; probably a million meals cooked and I don't know how many onions peeled.

With great care, lots of love and much cheekiness I've distilled half a lifetime of food, sex, drugs, madness and magic into a 300 page rocket of a book. And it's not even a third of it!

Inspired by a thousand questions about what really goes on the kitchen, and also by the wonderfully descriptive writing of those late greats - George Orwell and Anthony Bourdain, I've aimed to tell a down-to-earth tale. With a taste for the beautiful and bizarre I've also conjured up some of the places and people I've encountered along the way. This is not just a story about the magic of cooking, but also about where it can take you.

200 Kitchens is an odyssey, a trip, a wild ride full of belly laughs, sharp observations and lots of great food. And it's all true.
